The Strasshof engine shed after hours

The Strasshof Railway Museum ("Heizhaus") is housed in a former steam locomotive depot east of Vienna. It features a mishmash of restored and even operational steam, diesel, and electric locomotives and many others stored outdoors showing severe decay. While theoretically being a branch of the (federal) Vienna Museum of Science and Technology, it is primarily operated by a private club with many dedicated volunteers. It's funding relies heavily on ticket sales, membership dues, heritage train operations and donations. In order to attract more visitors the museum offers activities like concerts.
