The "Inner City" is the 1st municipal district of Vienna and the center of the Austrian capital. Dating back to a Celtic settlement and the Roman legionary camp of Vindobona it had a medieval fortification. To build the Ringstrasse, a circular grand boulevard around the "Inner City", the ancient city walls from the 13th century had to come down. There are some remnants though. Otherwise the "Inner City" is a mirror of the architectural styles of it's past.
